South Africa's original aloe factory

We have a proud history in the Hessequa. The House of Aloes is the original aloe factory, established in 1986 with the close co-operation of local farmers in Albertinia, South Africa. We are Proudly South African, a label that is proof of high quality products that are locally produced by a company that subscribes to environmentally friendly and fair labour practices.

Over the years, we have continued to innovate and refine our production processes. Today, one of the methods we devised is patented and the hallmark of our range remains the consistently high level of plant-based content in the form of top quality Aloe ferox raw products, bitter and non-bitter. The percentage of aloe active ingredients in our skincare and wellness products is calculated to approach up to 80% of the ingredients present in fresh aloe leaf gel.

In this area, Aloe ferox or the Cape Aloe grows wild on many farms – free from pesticides and artificial fertilisers, and with the highest concentration of beneficial substances in the country.

The ancient art of harvesting remains unchanged. The bottom few sets of leaves are cut at regular intervals, encouraging vigorous growth in the plant and ensuring its survival. It’s also labour-intensive, so provides a livelihood for unskilled, independent tappers.

All our products are manufactured according to uncompromising specifications and submitted to stringent quality control at several stages during production. Alcare Aloe  meets the strict requirements of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association of South Africa and is a member of the SA Cosmetic Export Council, with years of experience supplying clients in Europe, Asia and the USA.

The formulas for several of our wellness products have been submitted to the Medicines Control Council (MCC) of South Africa for registration. Already, 12 of our wellness products have Nappi codes, which are used by medical aid schemes.

If you are unhappy with a product for any reason The House of Aloes will do its utmost to resolve the matter, starting with registering your complaint and circulating it to the person best able to assist you.
